One is to keep moving, talking, and thinking about everything waiting somewhere else. The other is to become quiet enough to notice what has been there all along.

Whenever I slow down enough to truly notice, the forest always has another story to tell.

That's where this painting began.

Most people visit the redwoods looking up. I wanted to look closer. Mushrooms, banana slugs, and the quiet life beneath the towering trees don't ask for attention. They simply wait for someone willing to notice them.

The little boy isn't there because he's a child. He's there because he reminds us of something adults often forget. He isn't searching for something extraordinary. He's simply paying attention.

I hope this painting reminds you that wonder begins when we become present enough to truly see.
