We don't always get to choose the waves we face.
Splash Zone is a reminder that even in life's most overwhelming moments, love quietly shows us what matters most and what is always worth protecting.
Artwork Story
We don't always get to choose the waves we face.
Some arrive before we're ready, changing an ordinary moment into something we never expected.
When I painted Splash Zone, I wasn't thinking about the size of the wave. I kept thinking about the little girl. She isn't worried about herself. She's thinking about the tiny rubber ducks she wants to keep safe.
That simple instinct changes everything.
The ducks may seem small, even unimportant, but to her they matter. I think that's how love works. It doesn't measure importance the way the world does. It simply protects what is precious.
In the distance, the lighthouse quietly stands its ground while the waves come and go. I like to think hope works that way too - steady, even when life feels anything but.
I hope this painting reminds you that what matters most may change throughout your life, but the instinct to protect what you love never does.
What we love is always worth protecting.
