Peace doesn't always come from doing less. Sometimes it comes from simply playing.

Set beneath the towering cliffs of Yosemite Valley, The Peace of Play is an invitation to slow down, let go of expectations, and rediscover the quiet joy found in simple moments.

Artwork Story

There are moments in life when nothing needs to be accomplished.

When I painted The Peace of Play, I kept returning to the little paper boats. They aren't racing anywhere or drifting away. They simply float together, carried gently by the quiet rhythm of the river. Watching them felt peaceful.

She is completely absorbed in her own little world, yet deeply connected to everything around her. The river, the ducks, the swan, the towering cliffs, and the warm evening light become part of the same quiet moment. She isn't separate from the valley. She's part of it.

Whenever I stand in a place like Yosemite, surrounded by something so much greater than myself, my worries become smaller. The vastness of the landscape reminds me that I am only a small part of something much larger. What remains is a quiet sense of peace, gratitude, and presence.

As children, we rarely ask whether play is productive. We simply become completely present in it. Somewhere along the way, many of us forget that feeling. I hope this painting reminds you that those moments of quiet play, wonder, and peace are never really lost. We can always find our way back to them.

Peace doesn't always come from doing less. Sometimes it comes from simply playing.
