Artwork Story

A group of children gathers around a bonfire beneath Pigeon Point Lighthouse. They talk, laugh, and tell stories while above them an enormous whale moves through the night. Or perhaps they are underwater.

The ocean is another world that exists right beside ours. We see its surface, walk its beaches, and watch its waves, but most of what lives beneath them remains hidden from us.

The whale rises into the sky as a reminder that just because we don't see something doesn't mean it isn't there.

There is so much left to discover. And maybe that's where caring begins. We experience something. We become curious. We learn more. We begin to appreciate it and feel that we belong to it. And we want it to still be there for the children who come after us.
