Artwork Story

This painting began with one of my own mentors.

She had built a successful life as a professional artist, but instead of keeping what she had learned to herself, she created a school and began teaching other artists how to build one too. I was one of those artists.

That's where the little girl and her red wagon came from.

She is perfectly capable of climbing the mountain on her own. In fact, it would be considerably easier. But her dog and her doll are her friends, and she isn't leaving them behind. So she pulls them all the way to the top.

She knows where she's going. She knows what is waiting up there. And she wants them to see it too - the view, the beauty, and all the possibilities still ahead.

Knowing the way and helping someone else get there.
