The idea started with a girl who hears a seal calling from somewhere out at sea. She is certain he needs help. That's enough for her to set out and find him.

The seal may be perfectly fine on his rock. The sea may be rough, and a paper boat may not be much of a rescue plan. None of that has entered into her decision. Someone might need her. So she goes.

She heard someone calling for help, so she went looking for them.
